Large part of refugees for Estonia could be settled in Tallinn
"We take into consideration that Tallinn has a pull factor," the ministry's head of international protection policy Triin Raag said at a discussion in parliament. "The Tallinn authorities have been receptive and they also have said that accepting a third of the refugees arriving in Estonia will not cause them any problems."
It is not planned to settle individual families separately in Estonian regions because it could cause additional stress to refugees, Raag said.
At Monday's sitting of the parliamentary select committee for state budget control the readiness of the state and local authorities for receiving refugees was under discussion.
Estonia has agreed to accept around 550 people in need of international protection over a period of two years and at present is ready to receive 329 refugees from Italy and Greece.
