Lithuania to increase retirement pensions since 2016

The average retirement pension in Lithuania will increase by 8.21 euros, or 3.2%, to 265 euros on January 1, 2016 in line with the government’s decision, which will affect approximately 857,000 people, reports LETA/BNS.

Also on Wednesday, the Cabinet agreed to hike social benefits, sickness benefits, maternity/paternity benefits, accident allowances, occupational disease benefits, public and some other pensions for officials and military pensions.

 

Next year’s budget of the state social insurance fund (Sodra) earmarks 74.1 million euros for pensions increase and the central government budget provides additional 11 million euros for the purpose.
