BC, Vilnius, 29.09.2015.Print version
On 28 September, the Tripartite Council convened at the Social Security and Labour Ministry to discuss the new Labour Code in Lithuania. Representatives of the Government, the employers and trade unions completed their deliberations, informs LETA/ELTA.

A decision was reached as regards the application of fixed-term employment contracts, working hours, on-call duty and overtime on holidays and days off.

It was agreed that fixed-term employment contracts may be concluded for work of a permanent nature but not longer than for two years when carrying out the same function and taking into account several fixed-term employment contracts running consecutively. Those fixed-term employment contracts will be deemed consecutive which will be concluded within the period of two months from one another.

An agreement was also reached that in case of summary recording of working time the duration of a reporting period will be three months, while the average maximum working time in a week period must not exceed 48 hours. It was also decided that the duration of being on duty at home may not exceed one week in four weeks.

It was also settled on overtime. Overtime will be limited to 180 hours per year, however, collective agreements may establish more hours of overtime. It was agreed that a lunch break has to be given not later than after five hours of work.

The sides could not reach an agreement on a number of points, thus, Parliament will decide on them when considering the new social model.
