The Maxima store chain planning to open up to 20 stores in Estonia over the next three years and thinks that the current and future stores give the company the opportunity to become the retail market leader in Estonia by 2016, said Chief Executive Officer of Maxima Eesti Vaidotas Pacesa, Äripäev.ee/LETA reports.

Maxima Eesti laid the cornerstone for the new logistics centre of the store chain on September 26; it will cost over EUR 30 million and will be completed by the end of 2015.

Pacesa said that the logistics centre is related to raising the efficiency of the company. "We will make all of our procedures more efficient," explained Pacesa.

"To be the leader in the retail industry, one must want it and Maxima wants it," said Pacesa, adding that in Latvia and Lithuania, they are already leaders.

Pacesa explained that to become the leader, they need to make their procedures more efficient and open new stores. "In 2015, we will open our first XXX store in Tallinn, and if all goes according to plan, in 2016 there will be another similar shop."

Maxima is planning to open 10-20 new stores over three years. "I believe that the current and future stores give us the opportunity to be the best, and we have taken a goal that in 2016 we be the leader," said Pacesa.
