BC, Tallinn, 18.09.2014.Print version
Estonian chemical industry Viru Keemia Grupp (VKG) successfully launched its Petroter II plant, which is already running at full capacity for two weeks, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The plant was launched less than a month ago, and the amount of processed oil shale exceeded the amount of 40,000 tonnes while the amount of crude oil produced forms 5,000 tonnes. The factory is built on the basis of VKG's own advanced technology.

VKG's board chairman Priit Rohumaa said that fast and successful launch of the new factory is a big success for the whole concern. He said that this proves that the right choices were made in VKG in the past. He added that Petroter III factory is under construction.

Construction of Petroter II plant began in August of 2012, after the Petroter I factory, using the same technology, had proven its effectiveness.

The total cost of the project is 65 million euros, and together with the energy investment, over 150 million euro. The new factory created 100 new direct jobs and about 400 indirect jobs. At full capacity the factory will give the country a tax revenue of 14 million euros a year.
