Estonia registers second fastest retail sales growth in EU in July

In July 2014, compared with July 2013, Latvia's retail sales increased 3.9%, which is the sixth fastest growth among all European Union (EU) member states that have provided information. Estonia and Lithuania registered increases too, reports LETA, referring to the latest data collected by Eurostat.

The highest increase in retail sales in July, was registered in Luxembourg – 14.1%, Estonia – 9.2%, Romania – 6.3%, Lithuania – 4.1%, Bulgaria, and Ireland – 4%.

 

Meanwhile, the fastest retail sales decline was registered in Malta – 2.5%, Poland – 1.1%, Belgium, and Austria – 1%.

 

In comparison with June 2014, retail sales turnover in all EU countries grew 1% in July 2014, while the eurozone registered a 0.8% increase.

 

Meanwhile, retail sales turnover both in the eurozone and EU, reduced 0.4%.

 

The fastest increase of retail sales turnover was registered in Portugal – 2.6%, Latvia – 2.2.%, Estonia – 1.6%.

 

Meanwhile, the largest retail sales decline was registered in Austria – 1.5%, Germany – 1.4%, Sweden – 1.3%.

 

Lithuania saw a 0.6% increase in retail trade turnover in July.
