Launching flights on Ashgabat-Riga-Toronto route considered

In collaboration with Turkmenistan Airways, the Riga International Airport is considering launching flights on a new route – Ashgabat-Riga-Toronto, thus Riga airport would become a convenient hub for intercontinental flights, the Transport Ministry's Deputy State Secretary Uldis Reimanis said at an international transport and transit conference in Turkmenistan, informs LETA/Nozare.lv.
According to Reimanis, Latvian national airline airBaltic, with sixty destinations, also offers excellent cooperation opportunities.
Reimanis also drew attention to the advantages of the Riga International Airport – largest airport in the Baltic States that offers flights to 83 destinations in Europe and CIS countries, as well as direct flights to New York.
The high-level international conference on the role of transport and transit corridors is held in Ashgabat today and tomorrow.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow opened the conference. The Latvian delegation is led by Reimanis.
