Pohjola Bank issues EUR 13 mln loan to Riga Airport Passenger Terminal

BC, Riga, 21.08.2014.Print version
The Finnish Pohjola Bank subsidiary in Latvia has signed an agreement with Riga International Airport for a EUR 13 million loan to expand the airport's passenger terminal, informs LETA.

The creditor was chosen through an open tender.

"The terminal's expansion project will allow Riga International Airport to continue its development and improve its leader positions in the Baltic States. It will also leave a positive impact on Latvia's economic growth," the head of the Pohjola Bank subsidiary in Latvia, Elmars Priksans told the press representatives after signing the agreement.

The current terminal is capable of providing service for 3.5 million passengers a year, however, the current number using the airport's services, has reached 4.7 million a year. Therefore, the airport requires larger space in order to provide quality service for its clients.

The airport's development plan also foresees an expansion of the non-Schengen Area and four additional boarding sectors. Furthermore, the new building will be capable of providing service for larger aircraft, increasing the airport's passenger capacity.
