In the first six months of 2014, Latvijas Finieris posted EUR 102 million in turnover, whereas the value of the company's exports was EUR 79 million, which is respectively 4% and 2% more than in the same period of 2013, the company's spokeswoman Jolanta Medne informed the business portal Nozare.lv, cites LETA.

"Considering the fact that sales are not expected to increase on the European market, or the increase will be insignificant, our focus is on manufacturing products with higher value added and on improving customer service," Medne said.

Latvijas Finieris also plans to restructure manufacturing procedures in its newly-bought subsidiary in Finland, begin manufacturing birch-plywood products under the brand "Riga" and organize work in three shifts.

According to the company's CEO Janis Ciems, after these changes are implemented, the group will continue product development, and expects a 9% increase in the total manufacturing capacity.

"It will provide us with a chance to improve the cooperation with clients in Northern and Central Europe, as well as improve our products and logistics solutions. By operating in Finland, Latvijas Finieris will unite the historical experience of the Finnish and Baltic countries in the sector, entering a new period of the industry's development," the company's head said.

Latvijas Finieris turnover in 2013 was EUR 187.378 million, as compared to EUR 179.290 million in 2012.
