In Latvia gaming industry's turnover increases 8.8%

Year on year, the total turnover in the gaming and lottery industry increased 8.8 percent in the first six months this year reaching EUR 89.17 million, informs NOZARE.LV/LETA.

Gaming companies' turnover increased 8.7% to EUR 78.71 million, whereas lottery companies' turnover increased 9.7% to EUR 10.46 million.


Slot machines accounted for the largest part of gaming and lottery industry's income - 77.8%, lotteries - 11.7%, casinos – 7%. The proportion of interactive gaming increased the most, from 1% in the first six months of 2013 to 2.5% in the first half of 2014.


As of this past June, there were 8,326 slot machines in Latvia, 100 slot machines more than in June 2013, located in 325 arcades - two arcades more than in June 2013. The total number of people working in the gaming industry is 3,512.


Gaming companies paid EUR 27.01 million in taxes in the first half of 2014, which is EUR 3.9 (16.9%) more than in the same period last year.
