EMT's turnover and profit grew by 1% in H1 in Estonia

The turnover of Estonian fixed line communications company Elion and mobile communications company EMT, which their owner, the TeliaSonera group merged under land-based management in the second quarter, grew in the first half of the year 2014 by 1%, from SEK 1.26 billion (EUR 136.5 million) to 1.27 billion (EUR 137.6 million) as compared to the same time last year, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Operating profit before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 1.3% to 425 million SEK.

 

At the end of the second quarter, the number of EMT clients fell from 872,900 clients last year, by 300 to 872,600 clients, and the estimated market share was 45%. The number of contractual customers grew by 65,800. The largest increase came from the mobile Internet. The number of users of mobile Internet in a computer increased by 10%, the number of users of mobile Internet in a smartphone by 19%.

 

Elion's landline phone client number decreased by 2.9%, the number of IPTV customers increased by almost 3%, reaching 164,000 by the end of the second quarter. The total number of Elion Internet users at the end of June was about 223,000, which is 2.5% more than the same time last year.

 

Elion's estimated market share in the cable television services sphere was 46%, which is 1% more compared to the same period last year. Internet connection market share has remained stable, amounting to 58%.
