Industrial production growth in Latvia in May made 0.3%

Latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia show that, compared to April industrial production volume in May 2014 (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) rose by 0.3%.

Volume of industrial production rose by 4.2% on electricity and gas supply, but there was a reduction in manufacturing – by 0.7% and in mining and quarrying – by 3.1%.

Compared to May 2013, volume of industrial production in May 2014 has reduced by 0.2%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices; the fall was due to the drop in electricity and gas supply (of 10.2%). But increase, in turn, was observed in mining and quarrying – of 13.0%, and in manufacturing – of 1.8%.

 

Growth in industrial production was recorded in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – of 80.4%, in manufacture of furniture – of 10.3% and in manufacture of of non-metallic mineral products – of 9.6%. A significant production volume growth was also recorded in manufacturing sectors having the largest share in industrial production:in manufacture of wood and of products of wood – of 8.5%, in manufacture of food products – of 3.6%, and in manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment – of 2.6%.
