The Baltic States biggest business class planes maintenance centre opened in Tallinn Airport on Tuesday; the total area of hangars is nearly 5,230 m2 and the investment in the complex totalled nearly 5 million euros, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The hangars are heated all the year round and accommodate 8 business class planes of average size and one Boeing 737 size plane.

The complex of buildings will be rented from AS Tallinn Airport by commercial aviation company Panaviatic AS.

"The hangars are the biggest in the Baltic states and according to plans, they will service planes in the radius of up to 3,000 km from Tallinn," said Panaviatic AS council chairman Jüri Pihl. "There is a need for bigger maintenance complexes in the whole of Europe, where there is a shortage of similar buildings," said Pihl, adding that he complex is mainly meant for business planes; since a need has emerged at the market for longer flights, Panaviatic has to consider acquiring planes with longer flight radius besides the six Bombardier Learjet type planes.
