With 345 contracts signed and scaffolding in place by 82 apartment blocks, renovation programme is moving ahead in spring 2014 in Lithuania, reports LETA/ELTA.

In early 2014, there were 194 apartment blocks around the country which had signed renovation contracts or had completed actual renovation work. Thus, the number of houses on which actual work has started has nearly doubled in the last three months.

Minister of Environment Valentinas Mazuronis and Deputy Minister Daiva Matoniene are regularly visiting various regions and meeting with residents who still have many questions regarding renovation.

As reported, residents of apartment blocks who sign construction work contracts by the end of 2014 will be compensated 40% of the renovation cost and all the cost of preparing modernization projects, as well as for technical supervision of construction and administration of project implementation.

There are a total of 38,000 apartment blocks that need renovation.
