In Lithuania, 24% more cars registered in March y-o-y

Preliminary data of AutoTyrimai (information, research and consulting company of the automotive sector) has shown that 1,329 cars were registered in Lithuania in March 2014 year-on-year, informs LETA/ELTA.

Similarly as in previous months the main growth factor was the demand of export. By the end of the month 145 vehicles were already deregistered.

 

Passenger vehicle (M1 category) market grew by 19%, as 1,137 cars were registered. Meanwhile, commercial vehicle (N1 category) market rocketed by 64% with 192 cars.

 

Fiat remained as the most purchased brand of new vehicles as 181 of them were sold, followed by Volkswagen (174 cars) and Toyota (159 cats).

 

BMW recorded a spectacular result among more prestigious brands as 101 new BMWs were registered. However, it should be mentioned that 22 of them have already been deregistered.

 

The most popular models of passenger vehicles (M1 category) in March were Fiat 500 (132 cars sold), Nissan Qashqai (56 cars sold) and Skoda Octavia (45 cars sold).

 

In the first quarter of 2014, a total of 3,850 new cars were registered in Lithuania, i.e. by 22% more year-on-year.
