Estonian BLRT Grupp company Marketex Marine concluded a contract on building the world's biggest steel fish-feeding barge with Norwegian company OCEA, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The barge will be 30 metres long, 18 metres wide and will accommodate 750 tonnes of fodder. The barge will be delivered to the customer in the summer of 2014.

"The possibility to carry out such a unique project in cooperation with the world's biggest fish farming company is a matter of honour for our whole team. We hope that this barge will be one of many barges of that size in the portfolio of our company," said Marketex Marine CEO Darren Edwards.

Over the past ten years, Marketex Marine has built a unique fish farming floating laboratory for the Tromsø University and over 250 fish farming barges.
