Biggest Estonian grain terminal built by farmers opened in Lääne-Virumaa

Farmers society Kevili opened on Friday the Roodevälja grain terminal in the Sõmeru parish, Lääne-Virumaa, which is the biggest and most powerful grain terminal built with the joint efforts of Estonian farmers, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

The first stage of development of the Roodevälja terminal has been completed and it can handle 60,000 tonnes of grain in a season. The terminal can receive 500 tonnes an hour. Grain tests are conducted in 10 seconds. The terminal includes also a lab.

 

The construction work that lasted for a year cost 8 mln euros. The technological solution formed 3.5 mln euros of the budget. The object became reality tanks to including international companies whose competence and knowhow guaranteed fast completion of the object. The construction was financed by Kevil's members, Agricultural Registries and Information Board and a bank. The main contractor of the object was Nordecon Betoon OÜ.

 

Right after the opening, construction of bulk goods warehouse starts. Also preparations are under way for extensions of the terminal that aim to double the capacity.
