The Estonian Car Sales and Servicing Companies Union AMTEL data indicates that 1,564 new cars were sold in Estonia in September 2013, which was around the same as in September last year, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

"The first autumn month didn't bring any bigger changes in the new car sales figures and just like in August, the sale didn’t reach the spring growth rates in September either," said AMTEL.

Thanks to the strong first half-year sales, the nine months new car sales are by 5% higher than at the same time last year.

The most popular car brand was in September this year Toyota with 236 cars sold, followed by Škoda with 197 cars and Nissan with 109 cars.

9 electric cars and 27 hybrid cars were sold in September.

The sales figures of new utility vehicles were at the same level as in September last year but in nine months, the market is up 13% from last year thanks to strong first-half-year sales.
