Transporent was the only bidder and was awarded the right to lease a total of nine land parcels in Riga for LVL 2,175 a year.

As reported, the "BalticBike" rent-a-bike service, run by the national airline airBaltic last year, has been cancelled by the airline as its priorities had changed. Nevertheless, Riga City Council said that the bicycle rental project was important for the city and could become popular with tourists.

Therefore the Riga City Council's Property Department announced a tender for the right to rent nine land parcels in the city where "BalticBike" bicycle rent stands were located last year.

According to Firmas.lv data, Transporent is a car rental and sales company that belongs to four persons who are also members of the company's board: Marats Blate (45% share), Harijs Briedis (45%), Arnis Jaudzems and Vita Stelmahere (5% each). Jaudzems is the chairman of the company's board.

Last year, Transporent posted LVL 5.19 million in turnover and LVL 110,000 in profit.
