First cruise ship of the season visits Tallinn

Summer's cruise ship season 2013 will be opened officially in the Tallinn Old Port on Tuesday when the cruise ship Astor arrives; on the busiest days of the cruise season, that lasts till the end of September, up to 9,000 cruise ship passengers a day will arrive in Tallinn, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

"In the summer cruise season that starts, 1-6 cruise ships dock at the Old Port almost every day and in the high season in summer, in busiest days, up to 9,000 cruise passengers are visiting Tallinn," said Port of Tallinn marketing and communications department head Sirle Arro.

 

Ten cruise ships visit Tallinn for the first time. There will also be five turnaround trips of Spanish cruise company Pullmantur and one turnaround from German cruise ship Deutschland.

 

The longest ship to visit Tallinn this summer is the 317-metres long Celebriti Eclipse with over 2,800 passengers. The biggest amount of passengers, 3,000, will arrive in Tallinn on board the 311-metres long ship Adventure of the Seas.

 

Altogether, 328 cruise ships with around 485,000 passengers will visit Tallinn this year, which is the biggest amount ever. Last year, 440,000 cruise passengers with 294 ships visited Tallinn.
