Ventspils Port cargo turnover increases by 14% in January-November

In the first 11 months of 2011, Ventspils Port handled 26 million tons of cargo, which is 14% more than over the corresponding period last year, as the port's spokesperson Inga Ievina informed LETA.

In January-November, Ventspils Port handled almost 14 million tons of liquid cargo (seven% increase year-on-year), nearly ten million tons of bulk cargo (21% increase) and 2.5 million tons of general cargo (27% increase).

 

Oil products accounted for the largest share of Ventspils Port's cargo turnover in January-November. The port handled 13 million tons of oil products (ten% increase), six million tons of coal (75% increase), and around three million tons of mineral fertilizers (12% increase).

 

In November, Ventspils Port handled 2.4 million tons of cargo, which is 23% more than a year ago.

 

The port handled 1.2 million tons of liquid cargo, 928,000 tons of bulk cargo and 198,000 tons of general cargo in November.
