Starting from spring 2012, Estonian national carrier Estonian Air will open two new destinations to Europe’s key transit centres: on 25 March flights to Vienna with six flights a week and on 2 April to Hannover with six flights a week.

Estonian Air will open several new routes in 2012 to Europe’s most important cities as well as less known regional centres in Nordic countries. ”The logic behind the selection of these destinations is to develop Tallinn into a hub. This will bring more passengers to Estonia using Tallinn Airport as a transfer point in their journey onwards,” noted Tero Taskila, CEO of Estonian Air, writes LETA.

Estonian Air will serve the routes with 88-seater CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. Tallinn-Vienna flight duration is 2 hour and 10 minutes and Tallinn-Hanover 1 hour 55 minutes.

The core of Estonian Air’s new strategy is to connect Estonia better with the world, and thus improving the country’s global competitiveness, the company said. During 2012-2013 Estonian Air will focus on its position at home and nearby markets. That enables the company to enlarge the home market, to achieve sustainable growth and improve its economical results.
