Tallinn Airport received 189,019 passengers in July 2011, which is 40% more than in July last year, the company said in a statement.

July was the third month in a row when the best result in terms of passengers is exceeded, positive trends are also expected to continue in August.

Year-to-date average growth in passengers was 37.6% which made Tallinn one of the fastest growing airports in Europe, writes LETA.

The developments in passenger traffic are strongly supported by numerous new routes that have been launched during the previous year, but also traditional routes like London, Moscow, Helsinki, Stockholm etc. have gained more travelers than last year.

The biggest carrier at Tallinn Airport is Estonian Air serving 31% of passengers, followed by Ryanair with 20% and airBaltic with 11% of market share.

Tallinn Airport expects to handle more than 1.8 million passengers by the end of the year. During summer season passengers have the choice of 32 destinations and nearly 300 departures every week.
