180,750 passengers passed through Tallinn Airport in May 2011, which is 45% more than in May last year, the airport writes.

This is the best result in the history of Tallinn Airport, exceeding the previous record from August 2008 by 2%. Coming summer months as traditional high season in air transport contribute to the further positive outlook, reports LETA.

The number of passengers on scheduled flights grew by 52% compared to May last year, and also the number of charter passengers has recovered after a short period of downturn as European resorts are replacing North African holiday season.

Helsinki, Riga and Stockholm were the most popular direct routes in May. Seasonal flights to Paris, Barcelona and Berlin were also introduced, providing passengers the choice of 32 destinations and nearly 300 departures every week during summer season.
