An example of such investments is made by the company Hyrles OY that admitted that the impending accession to the European single currency was among major factors that encouraged such a move.
The head of the Finnish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce Pasi Harttunen noted that during the past year, companies that have less than 50 employees have slowly transferred their operations from Finland to Estonia. The euro will increase their confidence that Estonia will be able to handle its financial obligations while earlier the investors fear devaluation of the national currency.
Helsinkin Sanomat wrote that Estonia will be the closest country where the official currency will be the euro. This is expected to invigorate trade relations as well as tourism flows. Finnish real estate investors have also shown increased interest in the housing market in Tallinn.
