Danuta Pavilenene, BC, Vilnius, 21.12.2010.Print version
Lithuania-based railway company Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai discussed with the Belarus colleagues all possible ways to reduce the time of train journeys on Vilnius-Minsk route, writes LETA/ELTA, referring to Runet.lt.

The parties agreed to shorten the time of train passing on Lithuania-Belarus schedule from three hours and 50 minutes to three hours. For this purpose, passenger control procedures are expected to be eased and the number of stops to be decreased on the route.

The way between capitals of Lithuania and Belarus is 205 kilometers long. And after the modernization of the railway the trip from one capital to another would take only two hours or approximately twice less then now.

The target could be achieved in 2014, while in 2013 the journey from Vilnius to Minsk, or backwards, would take only 2.5 hours.
