Lithuania's Port of Klaipeda ups handling volumes 8% to 38 mln tons

Lithuania's Port of Klaipeda handled 38.02 mln tons of cargo in the first ten months of this year, up 8.3% from 35.12 mln tons during the same period last year, informed LETA/BNS.
In October y-o-y, handling volumes rose 24.9% to 4.34
mln tons, the port's authority said.
Positive results were recorded in all cargo groups, with the
largest increased recorded in the handling of general cargo, determined by
increases in the handling of container and ro-ro ships.
Handling of general cargo was up 40.4% to 1.55 mln tons.
Volumes of bulk cargo were 16.6 % to 1.864 mln tons. Handling of liquid cargo
increased 19.8 % to 925,400 tons.
The volumes of containers handled in Klaipeda have already
exceeded last year's figures, Vaitkus noted.
5,651 ships arrived in Klaipeda over the period, up 3.7%, or
200 ships, y-o-y.
