Klaipeda port's cargo traffic grew by 5.8% in January-May

The Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda handled 18.223 million tons of cargo during the first five months of 2018, up 5.8% from 17.232 million tons a year ago, the port's authority told BNS/LETA.
In May alone, cargo traffic through the port increased by 6.3% year-on-year to 3.873 million tons.
In January through May year-on-year, bulk cargo volumes declined by 2.4% to 7.683 million tons. General cargo volumes rose by 24% to 6.105 million tons and liquid cargo volumes remained stable at 4.435 million tons.
The total number of ship arrivals in Klaipeda edged down by 0.7% to 2,706 and the total number of passengers dropped by 4.5% to 90,600 passengers.
