Food company Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Latvija is going to boost its cookies production business and build a new plant in Latvia, which will provide 200 new jobs, LETA was told at the company.

The company’s representatives said that the new cookies plant will be built in Adazi, next to the new Laima sweets plant. The plant, which will specialize in making cookies and waffles, will be the biggest of its kind in the Baltics and Scandinavia.

The new plant is scheduled for launch at the end of 2020. The company plans to start construction planning soon, informing on the project’s main stages in the process.

The new Orkla plant in Adazi will be making not only Selga cookies, waffles and gingerbread, but also the cookies that are currently produced at the Orkla plant in the Swedish city of Kungalv. The size of the investments planned in the project has not been revealed.

As reported, Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Latvija closed 2016 with EUR 77.774 million in consolidated turnover and a profit of EUR 768,690.
