The Latvian national air carrier airBaltic in the first ten months of 2017 carried altogether 335,000 passengers in Estonia, 23% more than in the same period the year before, reports LETA/BNS.

The number of airBaltic's passengers on the Latvian and Lithuanian markets in the first ten months of 2017 has also increased approximately 20%. The increase in the number of passengers in Estonia was strongest compared with its neighbors, airBaltic said.

"Estonia for airBaltic is the second most important market after Latvia. Tallinn is important for us both as a final destination, for which airBaltic last year sold over 500,000 plane tickets, as well as a priority partner, where a number of passengers come from to fly to Europe with our planes," airBaltic CEO Martin Gauss said.

The strong result has also been supported by the airBaltic's good connection between Tallinn and Riga as well as the number of destinations on offer from Riga. Strong economic indicators of Estonia and the increasing satisfaction of people have also played their role in this. The most popular destinations of airBaltic from Tallinn in 2017 were Riga, Vilnius, Paris and Amsterdam.

The most popular destinations for Estonians from Riga have been Copenhagen, London, Prague, Kiev and Barcelona. While Copenhagen and London have been chose by passengers as destinations with good flight connections, then Prague, Kiev and Barcelona are usually final destinations.

The company said that the estimated fulfillment of planes for the fourth quarter of this year is also strong, which gives good prospects also for the financial results of the year.
