Lithuania's renewable energy and high-technology company BOD Group will join a Norwegian company Saga Energy in a 2.5-billion-euro project to build solar power plants in Iran, informs LETA/BNS.

Vidmantas Janulevicius, board chairman at BOD Group, confirmed to BNS that the group intended to participate in the project but refused to provide more information yet.

"We intend to take part with a warranty from the Norwegian state and take part in a project in Iran. We plan to provide one of the latest models. There are plans to even built a factory there," Janulevicius said.

On Tuesday, the Norwegian enterprise signed a preliminary contract with Iran's state-run Amin Energy Developers, Reuters news agency reported.

Under the deal, which is yet to secure final economic guarantees from Teheran, solar power plants with total capacity of around 2 gigawatt should be built in the next 4-5 years, Reuters cited Rune Haaland of Saga Energy as saying.

The solar modules will be manufactured by Norway's Saga and Lithuania's Soli Tek Cells operated by BOD Group.

BOD Group has already installed power plants in Indonesia and Malaysia, also manufacturing optical lens and media.
