Freight turnover of Transiidikeskus grows by 2.9% in September
According to CEO Vladimir Popov,
the terminals' operations have started to increase but they have yet to reach
their planned goals. Geopolitics and the low purchasing power of the Russia
market are still affecting the situation.
"At the same time there is reason to look to the near future with
optimism because thanks to a project carried out in cooperation with the Port
of Tallinn and Tallink - transferring the freight vessel Sea Wind from the Old
Port to Muuga as of October -- our company's freight turnover can start to
grow," he said.
The Muuga container terminal of Transiidikeskuse
AS handled 18,600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of containers, 6.1% more
than in the same month a year ago. The tonnage of goods transported in containers
increased 7%, the company said on Wednesday.
According to Popov, the company is ready for growth. "On the technical
side our terminal is capable of serving necessary freight flows," he said.
Popov added that the company will continue to look for ways for increasing
freight flows between the North and the South.
Transiidikeskus is a specialized container and general goods operator in the harbor of
Muuga just outside Tallinn.
