Print versionVakaru Baltijos Laivu Statykla (Western Baltija Shipbuilding), a Lithuanian group indirectly controlled by Estonia's BLRT Grupp, will build hull parts of the world's biggest hybrid ferry, informs LETA/BNS.

The company said it had started the first steel cutting tasks under a
contract with Norway's Ulstein Verft
on construction of hull parts signed in spring. The parts should be completed
by July of 2018.
Jolanta Toliusyte, spokeswoman for Vakaru Laivu
Gamykla (Western Shipyard, or VLG) that operates the shipbuilding company,
told BNS that the value of the deal was withheld.
The new hybrid ferry will accommodate 2,000 passengers and 500 automobiles,
starting a route between Norway and Sweden in the summer of 2019.
