A company by the name G.K. Ehitus is about to set up a plant for the manufacture of prefabricated concrete elements inside the building of a former roof tile factory in Aseri, north Estonia, which is expected to employ a workforce of up to 50 people, informs LETA/BNS.

The owner of G.K. Ehitus, Aseri native Gaido Kentem, and the company T.R. Tamme Auto at the end of last year established a company called Aseri Toostuspark (Aseri Industrial Park) which is now working on the project to set up a plant for the manufacture of prefabricated concrete elements, regional newspaper Pohjarannik said.

The company owns the building of the former AS Wienerberger roof tile plant in Aseri which went out of business at the beginning of this decade. The new plant is to manufacture wall components as well as ready-made bathroom modules which are not made in Estonia at present. Market for such modules exists in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Construction of the three-million-euro manufacturing facility takes about six months, the newspaper said.

Kentem described Aseri as an "extremely sensible" location for the plant, as the closest places where prefab concrete is made now are Rakvere to the west and Johvi to the east. "Should it be possible for the idea of the Aseri sea port to materialize in the future, it would offer a convenient opportunity to take our products to Scandinavia and cut down the supply chain," he added.
