Lemeks to build EUR 30 mln plywood plant in Estonia’s Jogeva County

The Estonian forest and wood processing company AS Lemeks is to build a birch veneer and plywood factory for 30 million euros in Viruvere, Jogeva County which will employ 120 to 150 people, reports LETA/BNS.

In July 2017, the company set up a subsidiary, Estonian Plywood AS, which is to produce birch veneer and plywood, for which the company has purchased nearly 10 hectares of industrial land near the town of Jogeva. The size of the investment is around 30 million euros. The company's production volume would be 25,000 to 30,000 cubic meters of birch plywood, for which 65,000 to 85,000 cubic meters of birch logs are needed, Lemeks said.


Production is to start in 2019. When the factory achieves full capacity, it will employ 120 to 150 people. The company is to be led by Randel Veerits.


Estonian Plywood AS is part of the Estonian forest and wood processing group Lemeks Grupp. The group includes 29 subsidiaries and associate companies, and its 2016 revenue was 115 million euros. The group employs more than 850 people in Estonia, Latvia, France, the U.K., Sweden and Norway.
