Freight transportation using the Latvian railway infrastructure amounted to 27.233 million tons in the first seven months of this year, up 0.1% from the same period in 2016, the state-owned railway company Latvijas Dzelzcels (LDz) said, cites LETA.

“Some freight categories showed decline, which was caused by seasonality, while others showed growth, evening out the overall freight figures,” LDz representatives said.

During the seven months 1.974 million tons of transit freight were carried by land, which was 2.2 times more than a year ago.
