Klaipeda port's cargo traffic hits new record high in H1

Cargo traffic at the Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda rose by 2.9% in the first half of 2017 from a year ago to 20.6 million tons, with loadings in June alone up by 1.4% year-on-year to 3.365 million tons, the port authority said, cites LETA/BNS.
"The port of
Klaipeda achieved very good results both in June and in the first half. It was
the best June in the port's history in terms of cargo volumes. The first-half
result hit an all-time-high, too," Arturas Drungilas, the port's
marketing director, said at a news conference on Wednesday.
The total number of ship
arrivals in Klaipeda fell by 218 ships, or 6.3%, in the first half
year-on-year to 3,242 ships, but the total number of passengers rose by 9,100
to 141,200 passengers.
