EUR 7.8 mln to be made available for construction of multimodal transport hub in Tornakalns

Print versionFunding worth EUR 7.8 mln will be made available to Latvia for the planned construction of a multimodal transport hub in Tornakalns, Riga, LETA was told at the Central Financial and Contracting Agency.

The funding has been allocated in order to promote the development of a more effective public transport system on the left bank of the River Daugava. The Central Financial and Contracting Agency has sent a letter to the Riga City Council urging the local authority to draw up an application for the EU co-funding.
The total referable funding that will be available until December 31, 2018 is at least EUR 7,828,821. This amount includes up to EUR 6,654,498 available from the Cohesion Fund, and at least EUR 1,174,323 worth of national public funding provided by the local authority and the central government.
The Riga City Council has to draw up the funding application by the end of 2018 and complete the project by the end of 2023.
