Orkla Confectionery&Snacks Latvija has increased exports of Maigums zephyrs to 52 percent of the zephyr output, and the increase has been ensured by rise of sales in such markets as Israel, Ireland and Greece, the company reported LETA.

The company’s spokeswoman Lineta Miksa said that Maigums zephyrs are the most popular Laima zephyrs among Latvia residents, and their popularity grows also in export markets every year.

"In total we export more than half of the zephyr output and 92% of them are with vanilla flavor. We have also started producing Maigums zephyrs with Riga Black Balsam black currant filling. It will promote popularity of zephyrs in the local and export markets as it can be seen also in Laima candies with Black Balsam fillings,” said Mikse.

She said that so far the cooperation between Laima sweets maker and Latvijas Balzams distillery brands have resulted in chocolate candies that are popular in Russia, Belarus, the US, Canada, Germany, Israel, the UK and Ireland.

At present, Laima’s product portfolio includes more than 200 different products sold in Latvia and abroad. Laima’s products are exported to almost 30 countries.

As reported, Orkla Confectionery& Snacks Latvija, registered in 2009, has a share capital of EUR 1.141 mln. The company belongs to Norway's Orkla, which has acquired 100% in all companies of the NP Foods group: Laima, Gutta, NP Foods, Staburadze, Staburadzes Konditoreja, Lithuania's Margiris and Detente.

In 2015, Norwegian food group Orkla, which owns Latvia’s NP Foods group, decided to merge Latvian food companies Laima, Staburadze, Latfood and NP Foods into one company, Orkla Confectionery& Snacks Latvija. Also, Latvian Spilva and Gutta companies were merged into Orkla Foods Latvija.
