Baltic Workboats raises wages

BC, Tallinn, 16.02.2017.Print version
The boat builder Baltic Workboats based on Estonia's largest island of Saaremaa raised the wages of its production personnel by close to 25% at the beginning of this year. reprots LETA/BNS.

The aim of the company was to raise its workers' gross wages to almost double the average for Saare County and above the national gross wages. According to data of Statistics Estonia for the third quarter of 2016, gross wages averaged 852 euros per month in Saare County and 1,119 euros across Estonia.

"Our workers and their contribution to growing the value of the company are the most important asset of our company. We wish to make working on Saaremaa even more attractive and offer a more stable work environment," CEO Margus Vanaselja said.

The pay rise was made possible by increased exports and production volumes, the CEO said.

According to Vanaselja, Baltic Workboats is a vigorously developing and growing company and is therefore constantly searching for engineers, welders, mechanics, electricians and other production personnel.

Baltic Workboats is an Estonian-equity manufacturer of workboats from aluminum and steel. The company employs a workforce of almost 200 and its sales in 2016 totaled 26 mln euros.
