Daugavpils Satiksme in early 2016 announced an open tender for supply of trams in order to develop environmentally-friendly public transport infrastructure in Daugavpils city.

There were four bidders in the tender.

The winner of the tender will supply trams for EUR 2,094,400, excluding VAT.

As reported, in order to facilitate the use of environmentally friendly public transportation and increase the number of passengers using public transportation in the city, EUR 12.2 mln worth of Cohesion Funding will be available to Daugavpils to develop its tram infrastructure.

This funding will be used to continue the restoration and modernization of the city's trams, as well as the reconstruction of current tram lines and the construction of a new tram line.
