Kesko Senukai Latvia (formerly Rautakesko) DIY, house and gardening store chain has so far spent EUR 3.3 million on the transformation of former K-rauta stores into K Senukai, the company informed BC.

The modernization has involved an expansion of the range of products, introduction of new categories of goods and services, such as custom sewing services to adjust the size of curtains, rugs and other products in accordance with the customers’ needs.

Kesko Senukai Director General Arvydas Sapola indicated that the new shopping center would offer a significantly wider range of services and higher service quality. The company works with more than 2,000 suppliers and partners, mostly in European countries. Nearly half of the suppliers are local companies.

As reported, Kesko Senukai Latvia has begun modernization of its K-rauta stores in Latvia under an international development and modernization plan which provides for investment of more than EUR 100 mln.

The investment project provides for modernization of all stores in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Belarus by 2020.

The existing K-rauta stores will be renamed as K-Senukai.

The first modernized store with the new name will open in Latvia before Christmas. It will be the former K-rauta store in the Lucavsala area in Riga.

Kesko Senukai runs the largest DIY, house and gardening goods retail chain in the Baltics.

As reported, in April this year Kesko Senukai took over from Scandinavian shareholder Kesko Group the management of eight K-rauta stores in Latvia and eight stores in Estonia. The Baltic subsidiaries will have similar names – Rautakesko in Latvia has been renamed as Kesko Senukai Latvia, and the Estonian and Lithuanian companies will be called Kesko Senukai Estonia and Kesko Senukai Lithuania respectively.

Kesko retail group comprises 20 retail chains, such as K-rauta, Rautia, Byggmakker, Konekesko, Senukai, Asko, Sotka, Citymarket, Anttila, Intersport, in eight countries - Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Belarus.
