The number of passengers served at the Riga port reached 496,000 in January-October this year, growing 7.1% compared to the ten-month period last year, the Riga port representative said BC.

The cruise ship season ended in October, and this year the Riga port received 62 cruise ships with a total of 70,000 passengers, up 3.4% from last year.

In 2015, the Riga port served nearly 1.858 million passengers or 7.3% less than in 2014.

Riga port only has regular passenger ferry traffic with the Swedish capital Stockholm. Estonian ferry operator Tallink Grupp has confirmed that it would put a second ferry on the Riga-Stockholm route in December this year so that ferries would be running daily on the route instead of every other day as currently.

Riga is the largest Latvian port by the turnover of both cargo and passengers.
