A new workwear plant of Finland's Lindstrom Prodem company will be built in Tukums by early 2017, the company’s representatives informed LETA.

The Lindstrom plant in Tukums is being built by ReRe Grupa, a company related to Latvia's Re&Re construction firm.

The new workwear plant will have a floor space of more than 3,000 square meters. The plant will be surrounded by nearly 5,000 square meters of green area with paths for pedestrians. The plant will provide jobs to approximately 120 people.

The foundation stone was laid for the new plant in a ceremony on Wednesday, August 17.

"The investment in Tukums is part of our business strategy to ensure even faster deliveries of workwear to our clients in the nearby region. Tukums is situated in a great central location. From our new plant we will be serving clients in all Northern Europe, said Juha Laurio, President and CEO of Lindstrom Group.

ReRe Grupa head Guntis Aboltins-Abolins indicated that this is a unique project as the topping out ceremony is scheduled to take place just a few months after the foundation stone laying ceremony. "We will be cooperating closely and constructively both with Lindstrom and the Tukums local authority. The result will be a contribution to the town's development and improving local residents' lives," Aboltins-Abolins said.

ReRe Grupa, established in 2014, has a share capital of EUR 1.865 mln. The company's sole owner is Latvia's Re&Re Capital, according to information available in Lursoft business database.

Lindstrom, one of the leading textile companies in Europe and Asia, has been operating in Latvia since 1994. Lindstrom makes workwear, absorption mats and industrial towels. The company reported EUR 302 mln in 2015 profit.
