airBaltic postpones its flight to Antalya to 11 p.m. on Saturday

In relation to the attempt of a military coup in Turkey, Latvia's national carrier airBaltic has postponed its Saturday's morning flight to Antalya to 11 p.m. on Saturday, the company's spokesman Janis Vanags told LETA.

BT7717/BT7718 flight from Riga to Antalya will take off at 11 p.m. on Saturday, while the flight from Antalya to Riga will start at 3.25 a.m. on Sunday. The flights are organized in cooperation with Tez Tour company.


According to the latest information, 137 passengers have bought tickets to the Riga-Antalya flight, and 144 passengers should fly on Antalya-Riga flight.


airBaltic has apologized to its customers for the possible problems because of postponement of the flights.


Tez Tour has asked its customers to remain in their hotels and keep in contact with the company’s representatives.


"We are in direct communication with the Latvian Foreign Ministry, airBaltic and our host office in Antalya. We will provide travelers with the latest information," said Tez Tour.


As reported, Turkish military group on Friday night announced a military takeover.


After a night of explosions, gunfire and tanks rolling along the streets, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Turkey Saturday that an attempted military coup was over and the government was in charge.


According to latest information, some 104 coup plotters were killed after an attempt to bring down the Turkish government, the acting Turkish army chief General Umit Dundar said on Saturday.


He said that "the coup attempt has been foiled", but 90 people - 41 of them police and 47 civilians – died in clashes.


President Erdogan meanwhile used Twitter to call on people to remain in the streets, warning against a new flare-up.
