The Estonian honorary consul in Cincinnati is Mary B. Nippert, whose consular region is made up of the states of Ohio and Kentucky, spokespeople for the Estonian Foreign Ministry said.

Marmei said he was pleased that the network of Estonian honorary consuls in the United States is expanding. He said the new honorary consul will definitely help promote Estonia's economic interests and present the country's culture in the region. The presence of an Estonian honorary consul will make things simpler for members of the local Estonian community, who will no longer have to travel to New York or Chicago to obtain their Estonian passport.

Estonia now has 15 honorary consuls and one assistant honorary consul in the United States.

Mary B. Nippert, owner and manager of a Cincinnati based high end boutique jewelry store, has studied at the University of Cincinnati and the Gemological Institute of America. She is active in the NPO sector and as a volunteer. Mary Nippert has ties to Estonia through her great-grandmother.
