Latvia has managed to successfully attain and even beat the program's initial targets, participants of the meeting concluded.

According to the Finance Ministry's representatives, Swiss experts gave a positive assessment of the post-program monitoring in Latvia, noting that Latvia might serve as a role model to other recipients of Swiss financing, as the investments made under the program have been used in accordance with their purpose.

Switzerland's EUR 49 million financing is available to Latvia since 2007. The program has been used to support 12 projects in areas like regional development, court modernization, environmental improvements, support to the private sector and nongovernmental organizations, education and research, the financial sector's regulation and access to financing.

Most of the projects have already been completed, while the implementation of the remaining ones will continue until June 2017 when the Swiss financing program is due to close.
