The Egyptian Transport Ministry's representative confirmed Egypt's interest in cooperation with Latvia, especially in experience exchange, saying that Latvian experts have good knowledge but small market, while Egypt lacks know-how, but has access to a large market as Egypt serves as the gate to Africa, LETA learned from the Latvian Transport Ministry.

Augulis discussed possible cooperation, saying that Latvia has cooperation proposals to offer to Egypt, including well-developed transit corridors and broad knowledge and experience.

Augulis also called on Egyptian companies to use Latvia's transit corridor with the well-developed infrastructure for cargo transportation and distribution of goods in the CIS countries and Scandinavia, the ministry reported.

The Egyptian delegation also visited the state-owned Latvijas Dzelzcels railway company where experts from the Transport Ministry and Latvijas Dzelzcels presented Latvian transport and logistics infrastructure, railway projects and high-level security measures in the Latvian railway system in detail.

Earlier the delegation also visited the Riga Freeport and got acquainted with the port's infrastructure.

The Egyptian delegation’s visit to Latvia lasted between March 21 and March 25.
