The Finnish airline Finnair is to open several new routes from Tallinn with intermediate landings in Helsinki to Europe, Asia and the U.S. in 2016, as a result increasing the number of the company's destinations by 10%, informs LETA/BNS.

"Finnair is to open several new lines to different destinations around the world this summer," spokesperson for Finnair Evelin Trink told BNS, adding that the new flights will take place to European and Asian countries as well as the U.S.

Finnair is planning to raise the number of destinations for flights from the Baltic countries by 5% compared to 2015 which means up to 83 flights per week from the three Baltic countries, the company said in its press release.

Finnair departures from Estonia mainly took place to many European cities last year, but nearly half of Estonian sales came from long-haul flights. The most popular destinations were London, Helsinki, Paris and Bangkok. For long-haul flights New York, Singapore, Miami and Beijing were also popular.

Last year Finnair increased its revenue by 1.7% to 2.32 billion euros. The company's operating profit totaled 23.7 million euros in 2015 compared to 36.5 euros of operating loss in 2014.
