"It is a good sign that more and more passengers pass through our ports. Compared to last year more passengers came in from Finland, Sweden as well as St. Petersburg. In addition, eight more passenger ships visited us," Sirle Arro, chief of marketing and communications at Port of Tallinn, said.
As usual, the number of passengers was the biggest on the Tallinn-Helsinki route, totaling 468,461. Passengers traveling between Tallinn and Stockholm numbered 69,268 and passengers on the Tallinn-St. Petersburg route, 8,846.
The listed Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp served 66%, the Finnish shippers Viking Line and Eckero Line respectively 21% and 11%, and St. Peterline 2% of passengers in January.
The ports received 369 visits by passenger ships during the month.
